Task 1
Sound Reverb
Reverb is the term used to describe the sound of a room.
What reverberant and dry sound actually is.
Reverberant sound is sound that travels around usually, an empty room making the sound be repeated several times around the room. Which causes the reverberant effect that we all know as ( echoey) A non- reverberant sound would be a room with a low ceiling lots of furniture to act as insulation for the sound causing the dry or dead sound we are so familiar with.
Sound and different sound types

Dry room
This is an example of a extremely dry room due to the hard wood and low ceiling, also due to the fact that it is quite compacted.

This is a Reverberant stairwell
This is a reverberant stairwell because of the high ceiling open spaces causing sound to seem like it travels further. Due to the fact that their are many stairs, it makes this space very open causing it to be reverberant.
What makes a good recording?
What makes a good recording ?
A dry room makes for a good recording because all the sound becomes clearer and more audible. Making sure that the microphone is close enough to peoples mouths, without interruption. Depending on what type of recording you are doing will depend on what equipment is needed. For example the recorder bellow will be used for close up interviews.

To use this recorder make sure it is switched on at the side, and a SD card is inserted. Press the big red button twice to start a recording, then once you have finished the recording press the red button once more, this will save the recording to the SD card the SD card can be found on the right of the machine if you open the SD card slot you will see it in there simply push it and wait for it to sightly pop out then you can take the card.
Interview
Task 2

A Lavalier/tie microphone is a microphone that you tend to clip on to clothing near the mouth and record the sound. It is used for interviews because, it gives a clear and concise audio recording also it is much smaller making the microphone easy to carry than a zoom microphone also the mic is close to the mouth making ideal for windy areas also easy to conceal.

sound recordings
Me and Brad did sound recording just outside the art studio, lobby and the library. we described the area we were in at that point in time we used microphone to record and headphones to listen to each others voices to check the sound quality we took multiple takes to make sure we got the perfect take. the area's we did are recording in was first 1st floor just by the elevator's the reason we chose this location first was it is a large open space so recording here shows off how where you record can make a big difference in sound quality. The next area we test was a classroom the reason we tried this area next was to check if the room would reverberate less and it did because of the size of the room and because of the chairs in the room. The reason is simply sound is bouncing off objects so less space the more the sound reverberates.
